Easter

When holidays come around (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc.) the Girls are always asking for more kids to play with. Since they have been the only kids on Flint’s side of the family and their cousins lived so far away in California, there were rarely other kids to play with, friends spending time with their own families on holidays. Thinking of Flint being gone for Easter, I called my friend Heather and asked if we could join them, not having any idea what we would be in for.

As it turned out, we went camping! Heather’s family had planned to spend Easter camping in the hills north of Scottsdale, AZ. Heather’s sister has 5 kids and Heather and Justin have 3 add in our 2 plus the addition of a friend and you get a couple of packs (one girls, the other boys). Of all of these kids, seven of them are 11 years old with the others close behind. Heather’s family very graciously welcomed us to the fun and really made us feel like we were part of the family. The days were filled with dirt bike riding, hiking and playing in the stream. Justin even brought a quad for Cami and Andi to ride. They loved it! The cool evenings were filled with campfire and the roasting of things that always accompanies fire.

Larry and Beverly set up a huge Easter egg hunt on Easter where the girls found eggs with money in them. They were thrilled! Although it took them about an hour to get used to all the kids, they had a blast and were sorry when it was time to go, asking when they would see everyone again. I have to say a very public thank you to Larry and Beverly, Heather and Justin and Josh and Linda plus all the kids for making us all feel welcome and embraced!
